What the badges mean

Three levels, and we apply them strictly. An agent moves up only when we have documents in hand.

Someone created an account and selected "Agent". Nothing has been checked — not identity, not registration, not their address, not whether they have ever sold a property. This is the default state.

How to check an agent yourself

Ten minutes of checking before the first conversation is worth more than anything a directory listing can tell you.

🔍 Do these before you meet

  • Check ESVARBON registration. Estate surveyors and valuers must be registered with the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria. Ask for their number and confirm it directly.
  • Ask for the CAC number if they trade as a company, and verify it online. A business that has existed for years is safer than one opened last week.
  • Visit the office address. An agent without a verifiable physical office in Nigeria carries serious risk.
  • Ask for two recent clients you can call — and actually contact them to check their experience.
  • Search their name and phone number alongside terms like "scam" or "fraud" on Google before making commitments.

⚠ Walk away if

  • They demand advance inspection fees. Upfront non-refundable charges before producing verified title documents are a frequent indicator of fraud.
  • Payment is demanded to a personal bank account rather than an official corporate company account matching their registered identity.
  • They push you away from your own lawyer, insisting you must only use "their" affiliated counsel.
  • The price is well below market accompanied by extreme pressure to pay immediately to "secure the deal."
  • They cannot produce a survey plan or valid title documentation for verification.
